Accessibility
Friesland is easily accessible and has excellent infrastructure. You can be on Frisian soil with both feet within an hour from Amsterdam; that is, if you don't stop every so often to enjoy the view. Half an hour further and you're in downtown Leeuwarden. You don't even have to stand in traffic jams. The parking fees make you spontaneously smile and parking is plentiful. Friesland is just an hour's drive from Amsterdam Schiphol international airport. Intercity trains connect Leeuwarden and Heerenveen with the rest of the Netherlands while you enjoy the beautiful countryside.
Accessibility by public transport
Friesland is easily accessible by train from the major Dutch cities. From Schiphol Airport, there is a direct connection to Heerenveen, Grou and Leeuwarden, for example, which takes 1.5 to 2 hours. From Groningen, too, you can be in Leeuwarden in half an hour. From Leeuwarden, trains go to various Frisian eleven cities such as Hindeloopen, Makkum, Workum, Harlingen and Sneek. From the various stations, you will travel further with regional buses from Connexxion, Arriva and Qbuzz. The best way to plan your journey is via the 9292 website.
